Attention to Detail

I think I do have a bit of a passion for lightfittings, and maybe for something just a bit different. I really like this one by Laura Kirar.It's called Leaves and Seeds and available through Arteriors.

Thibault Wallcoverings have always been a favourite supplier. A little while ago they began their distribution through Anna French, which has helped to keep their profile alive in the UK. Their designs range from the traditional Damask,through to the vibrant traditional prints with beads and crystals and on to to this texture range. They are an American company, so the wallpapers are usually wider width and sold in the double roll size for the UK market. As with all natural grasscloth papers, there is no seamless join. So what you see, is what you get.

With so many kitchens using a variety of materials, tile on floors, wood on units, corian for work surfaces- it's hard to know what to use for a kitchen island. What about glass? And a real designer piece! Of course, glass can be moulded into any shape, coloured in a variety of ways and is very tough. This is by Thinkglass.com

And at the bottom of this article we have shower drains. I have seen so many amazing ones recently. Round and square designer stainless steel drains that come in a variety of intricate designs, elegant wood shower drains, and this fabulous discreet linear shower drain which should be available through all good bathroom suppliers.

Something For The Weekend

I don't know if anyone else viewing this blog watched "Something For The Weekend" on Sunday with Alex Jones from The One Show. She is a beautiful woman and a great presenter on The One Show - but if she has anything sharper in her hand than a plastic spoon, back away! The way she held a knife cutting through pancetta was hilarious.

She did say the only thing she could cook was tinned tomatoes on toast, and I'm not sure anyone would even eat that.

This is just fab! Hardly affordable and a bit of a wait I understand- but pretty good. I knew 2 guys who would have died for one of these, and had to put up with an old Victorian thing, and my niece had a homemade effort Great furniture too...

Fine Fossils

Description: This fossil plate comes from the world famous Laggerstatten Green River. The site produces a large extent of soft tissue preservation as evidenced by this fish. The fish present on this rare and interesting plate are as follows: Mioplous is an ancestor of the Perch and was a voracious predator. Often they can be found in the fossil record eating other fish. It is easily identified by its elongated shape and canine-like teeth. Knightia, the small fish, is the state fossil of Wyoming. They were at the bottom of the food chain and were schooling fish, which is why they can often be found together on fossil mortality plates. Diplomystus is distantly related to modern herrings and was a surface feeder, as shown by their upturned mouths and body shape. They fed on smaller fish such as the Knightia. The preservation on this one off plate is superb, with an impression of scales and the dark bodies a wonderful counterpoint to the light matrix. During the Eocene the region was sub tropical to temperate.

This is the best quality specimen we have ever obtained and is true museum quality.
A terrific investment opportunity, as well as a fine one off piece of art.

Good Design

The best thing since sliced bread or emperor's new clothes. Like many things in life, it's a personal decision and shouldn't be dominated by what other people think. What's right for one person isn't necessarily great for someone else. 

That's where a good Interior Designer comes in. They not only assess what you want, but what you need, what you have and what will enhance those experiences.
